Dr. Lee has trained on three continents: Asia, Europe, and North America. Starting as an apprentice in his family optical business, he performed refractions while still in high school. In 1982, he completed his optometry degree with honours from The City University in London, England. Continuing his training in contact lens practice, he worked as an optometric consultant in numerous private offices. He immigrated to Canada in 1989 and worked with the Grenfell Mission in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, a local hospital that serves northern Newfoundland and all of Labrador. He flew to local coastal regions to perform eye examinations in adverse conditions with basic instrumentation. This has enhanced his skills today with any pediatric and geriatric patients who are non-communicative and who do not fit well with modern instrumentation.
Dr. Lee spent a further two years in the University of Waterloo, Canada, and obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree. He has passed his licensing exams in England, Newfoundland, Ontario, and British Columbia. Currently he practices in Burnaby, BC.
Dr. Lee is originally from Malaysia and has lived in BC for the last 31 years where he met his wife, Dr. Sharon Wu. His interest outside of optometry includes a B.A.(Hons.) in Theology. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, Hakka, and Hokkien.
